Cairngorm Capital Partners Acquires Grant & Stone

Cairngorm Capital Partners has acquired Grant & Stone Limited, a High Wycombe–based independent builders' merchant, and its ecommerce subsidiary Trading Depot UK Limited from the founding shareholders. The private equity firm will support management with capital and strategic guidance to expand the business via new branches and add-on acquisitions across the Thames Valley.

Cairngorm Capital-backed Grant & Stone has acquired CRS Building Supplies Limited, merging the Somerset-based builders merchant into the Grant & Stone group as part of its buy-and-build strategy. The deal adds CRS’s 12 branches and local brand to Grant & Stone’s footprint, creating an enlarged group with 44 branches, over 500 employees and revenues in excess of £140m; the transaction was driven by the CRS owners' succession planning.

The transactions expand Grant & Stone’s geographic footprint across Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire as part of a roll-up growth strategy supported by Cairngorm Capital.

Grant & Stone Acquires Devondale Electrical Distributors

Grant & Stone, a portfolio company of Cairngorm Capital Partners, has acquired Devondale Electrical Distributors, the largest independent electrical wholesaler in the South West of England. The add-on expands Grant & Stone's electrical division with nine additional branches based in Somerset and Devon, providing geographic expansion, product extension and securing succession for Devondale's owner and managing director, Paul Wood.
