Bending Spoons Acquires Meetup

Italian technology company Bending Spoons has completed the acquisition of U.S.-based community platform Meetup, which has more than 60 million registered members worldwide. Bending Spoons said it will leverage its technology and product expertise to accelerate Meetup's international expansion, grow membership, and improve organizer experience; Meetup CEO David Siegel will serve as an advisor following the transaction.

Italian app developer Bending Spoons has acquired California-based MileIQ Inc, a provider of automatic mileage-tracking and expense reporting services for self-employed users and enterprise customers. Bending Spoons retained JP Morgan and Willkie Farr & Gallagher as advisors and reportedly secured financing support (led by Silver Point with participation from Blackstone and others) for the transaction.

Bending Spoons Acquires Brightcove for $233M

Italian technology company Bending Spoons completed an all-cash acquisition of US-based streaming technology provider Brightcove Inc. for approximately $233 million (about $4.45–$4.46 per share). The deal, unanimously approved by Brightcove's board and its stockholders, takes Brightcove private and brings its streaming SaaS platform into Bending Spoons' portfolio to expand its video and streaming capabilities.

NB Renaissance and Cherry Bay Capital Invest in Bending Spoons

NB Renaissance has taken a minority stake in Milan-based mobile app developer Bending Spoons, with Cherry Bay Capital Group also investing. The funding will support Bending Spoons' expansion — including M&A activity — and help position the company for a potential IPO; NB Renaissance appointed Stefano Bontempelli to the board and did not disclose the deal size.
