uAvionix Corporation Acquires Iris Automation

uAvionix Corporation has acquired Iris Automation, combining uAvionix's communications, navigation and surveillance (CNS) capabilities with Iris Automation's computer vision-based Detect and Avoid (DAA) systems. The deal strengthens uAvionix's ability to offer a multi-layered safety architecture for crewed and uncrewed aircraft and includes a leadership change with Jon Damush (former Iris CEO) named CEO of uAvionix.

Versa Integrity Group Acquires Avion Solutions' Commercial UAS Operations

Versa Integrity Group, a Dorilton Capital-backed industrial inspection services platform, has acquired the commercial Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations ("Avion Commercial") of Avion Solutions. Avion Commercial — based in Huntsville, Alabama — provides drone imagery, inspection, data collection, and training services; Avion Solutions will retain its government services business. The deal expands Versa's non-destructive testing and inspection capabilities by adding unmanned aerial inspection services.

Madison Dearborn Partners and CoVant Management Acquire AEVEX Aerospace

Madison Dearborn Partners and CoVant Management have agreed to acquire majority ownership of AEVEX Aerospace from Trive Capital. AEVEX is a provider of full‑spectrum airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (AISR) technology solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense, Special Operations, and the Intelligence Community; the company employs approximately 600 people and maintains offices across multiple U.S. states. The transaction is expected to close by the end of Q1 2020, and AEVEX's founder‑management team will retain a significant ownership stake.

Textron eAviation Acquires Amazilia Aerospace

Textron's eAviation division has acquired substantially all the assets of Amazilia Aerospace, a Munich-based engineering firm that develops digital flight controls and vehicle management systems. The approximately 30-person Amazilia team will continue supporting Pipistrel programs including the Surveyor and Nuuva V300 as Textron expands its electric aviation and cargo UAV capabilities.
