The private equity firm said it will support uAvionix in scaling operations, expanding product capabilities, and pursuing adjacent and defense markets globally.

Avion Solutions, a 100% employee-owned aerospace and defense engineering firm based in Huntsville, Alabama, has acquired Tennessee Valley Research Group (TVRG) to strengthen its capabilities in laser technology systems, tactical ballistic missile targets, and hypersonic weapon field testing. The acquisition expands Avion's technical and programmatic expertise to better serve Department of Defense customers and integrate TVRG's team into Avion's engineering and test portfolio.

uAvionix Corporation Acquires Iris Automation

uAvionix Corporation has acquired Iris Automation, combining uAvionix's communications, navigation and surveillance (CNS) capabilities with Iris Automation's computer vision-based Detect and Avoid (DAA) systems. The deal strengthens uAvionix's ability to offer a multi-layered safety architecture for crewed and uncrewed aircraft and includes a leadership change with Jon Damush (former Iris CEO) named CEO of uAvionix.

AeroVironment Acquires Arcturus UAV for $405M

(NASDAQ: AVAV) will acquire Arcturus UAV, Inc., a Petaluma, California–based developer and manufacturer of Group 2 and 3 unmanned aircraft systems, for a total purchase price of $405 million (approximately $355 million cash and $50 million in AeroVironment stock). The acquisition expands AeroVironment's product portfolio into higher-value Group 2 and 3 UAS segments, adds Arcturus’s ~270 employees and COCO services capability, and is expected to be accretive to adjusted EBITDA and GAAP EPS in fiscal 2022.
