Clearlake and Francisco Partners Acquire Synopsys' Software Integrity Group (Black Duck Software)

Clearlake Capital and Francisco Partners agreed to acquire Synopsys' Software Integrity Group in a transaction valued at up to $2.1 billion, creating a newly independent application security company to be branded Black Duck. The deal — a carve-out divestiture by Synopsys — is expected to close in H2 2024 (announcement) and was completed October 1, 2024, enabling the business to operate as a standalone leader in application security testing.

Universal Technical Resource Services Acquires Black Cipher Security

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) formed a new majority-owned subsidiary, UTRS InfoSec LLC, and acquired Black Cipher Security, LLC to expand its cybersecurity capabilities. The acquisition brings Black Cipher's managed security, incident response, and risk management expertise into UTRS to strengthen services for the Department of Defense and commercial clients.

DeepSeas Acquires RedTeam Security

BlueVoyant Acquires Conquest Cyber

(ATR), a PE-backed cybersecurity platform, and ATR simultaneously acquired Security On-Demand, Inc., a San Diego-based provider of managed threat detection and analytics. The acquisition will keep Security On-Demand's founder Peter Bybee in place and aims to scale SOD's ThreatWatch analytics and managed security services for regulated industries and government customers.
