McDanel Advanced Materials Acquires Richland Glass in Strategic Merger

McDanel Advanced Materials and Richland Glass, both portfolio companies of Artemis, have completed a strategic merger that combines advanced ceramics, optical technologies (Rayotek) and precision specialty glass into a single materials-science platform. The combined organization will offer expanded engineered-materials and component solutions for mission-critical applications across aerospace, defense, life sciences, semiconductor and diversified industrial markets; financial terms were not disclosed.

Artemis Capital Partners Acquires McDanel Advanced Ceramic Technologies

Boston-based private equity firm Artemis Capital Partners has acquired McDanel Advanced Ceramic Technologies, a Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania manufacturer of high-performance tubular and technical ceramics. Artemis said McDanel will operate independently from its Beaver Falls headquarters while Artemis invests in people, capabilities and capacity to support growth across semiconductor, aerospace & defense, medical and energy end markets.

Arotech Corporation's Advanced Electronics Division (AED) has acquired UST-Aldetec, a privately held design, engineering, manufacturing and services company with sites in Fair Lawn, New Jersey; Sacramento, California; and Reno, Nevada. The acquisition expands Arotech AED's capabilities into RF and microwave product platforms and strengthens its position in defense, communications and medical electronics manufacturing.

Advanced Instruments Acquires Artel

Advanced Instruments has signed an agreement to acquire Artel, a Westbrook, Maine-based provider of calibration and validation instruments, consumables, software and services for life-science laboratories. The add-on transaction is funded by Patricia Industries and Advanced Instruments (with external debt), values Artel at an upfront ~$85m with contingent payments of up to $55m, and is intended to expand Advanced Instruments' liquid-handling portfolio and R&D capabilities.

Vertex Aerospace Acquires Raytheon Technologies' Defense Training and Mission Critical Solutions Business Lines

Vertex Aerospace, owned by private equity firm American Industrial Partners, agreed to acquire Raytheon Technologies' Defense Training and Mission Critical Solutions business lines, a group of businesses that generated approximately $1.0 billion in sales in 2020. The transaction (a divestiture by Raytheon Technologies) adds roughly 2,000 employees to Vertex, expands its training, mission-critical support and modernization capabilities, and broadens its government and commercial aerospace contract portfolio.
