Hoffmann Family of Companies Acquires Elmer Chocolate

Hoffmann Family of Companies, a U.S.-based family equity firm, has acquired Elmer Chocolate, a long-standing seasonal chocolatier known for its heart-shaped Valentine’s chocolates and large-scale confectionery manufacturing in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Financial terms were not disclosed; members of the Nelson family (including Rob and Michael Nelson) will retain partial ownership and remain in leadership as Hoffmann aims to expand Elmer’s product portfolio to drive year-round growth.

HBM Holdings Acquires HarperLove from Graycliff Partners

HBM Holdings has acquired HarperLove, a Charlotte-based provider of specialty adhesives, performance additives and wet-strength resins for the corrugated packaging industry. Commercial Bakeries Corp., a Graham Partners–backed private label cookie and cracker manufacturer, has acquired Hollandia Bakeries Ltd. and The Good Food Company Inc., adding a Mount Brydges, Ontario baking facility and additional cookie manufacturing and packaging capabilities. The transaction is an add-on to Commercial Bakeries’ platform, intended to expand manufacturing capacity and capabilities in the North American private-label cookie market.

Bain Capital Acquires Dessert Holdings from Gryphon Investors

Bain Capital Private Equity has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Dessert Holdings, a St. Paul–based premium dessert platform that includes The Original Cakerie, Lawler’s Desserts, and Atlanta Cheesecake Company. The acquisition from Gryphon Investors will support Dessert Holdings’ next stage of growth—pursuing product innovation, organic expansion and add-on opportunities—and is expected to close in Q2 2021 (debt financing led by Antares Capital).

Helen of Troy Acquires Olive & June

Helen of Troy Limited has completed its acquisition of Olive & June, LLC, an omni-channel nail care brand founded in 2013. The deal was funded in part by a $235.0 million revolving borrowing under Helen of Troy's credit agreement and is expected to be immediately accretive to Helen of Troy's revenue growth, margins, and adjusted EPS.
