HealthpointCapital Acquires Controlling Stake in CrossRoads Extremity Systems

HealthpointCapital has acquired a controlling (majority) stake in CrossRoads Extremity Systems, a Memphis-based developer and manufacturer of foot & ankle implants, procedure-specific sterile-packed instrumentation, and the EcoSMART instrument recovery service. HealthpointCapital will partner with CrossRoads' co-founders and management, providing additional equity to fund organic growth, expand the company's portfolio and market presence, and pursue bolt-on acquisitions.

The purchase, which includes issued and pending U.S. patents, strengthens CrossRoads’ extremities product portfolio and supports cross-selling and capability expansion as part of HealthpointCapital’s strategy to build a market-leading orthopedic extremities platform.

HealthpointCapital, a private equity firm focused on musculoskeletal healthcare, acquired a majority stake in IlluminOss Medical, a commercial-stage medical device company that makes the Photodynamic Bone Stabilization System for fracture repair. HealthpointCapital said it will partner with IlluminOss to accelerate commercialization, expand regulatory approvals, and drive growth in the orthopedic trauma and geriatric fracture markets. Transaction terms were not disclosed.

The deal (terms not disclosed) creates a platform that operates more than 60 outpatient rehabilitation facilities across multiple states and a national clinical staffing business; Kiawah River Health Partners co-invested in the transaction.
