Vital Energy Acquires Assets of Driftwood Energy Operating, LLC

Vital Energy, Inc. (NYSE: VTLE) signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Driftwood Energy Operating, LLC, comprising leasehold interests, production and hedges, in exchange for 1,578,948 shares of Vital common stock and $127.6 million in cash. The asset package (effective Jan. 1, 2023) includes ~16,500 gross acres (11,200 net) in Upton and Reagan counties of the Midland Basin, ~5,400 BOE/day production, and an estimated 30 gross operated horizontal locations.

Vår Energi has completed the acquisition of ExxonMobil's Norway upstream assets for a cash consideration of roughly USD 4.5 billion, a deal that effectively doubled the company's production on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The portfolio adds interests in more than 20 producing fields (about 150,000 boepd additional), increases reserves to ~1,900 million boe and transfers some ~33–50 ExxonMobil employees to Vår Energi, reinforcing the company's position as the second-largest operator on the NCS.

Woodside Energy Group Ltd and its U.S. acquisition vehicles have acquired all outstanding shares of Tellurian Inc. in an all-cash transaction of $1.00 per share (approximately $900 million cash; implied enterprise value ~ $1.2 billion). The deal closed in Q4 2024, making Tellurian a wholly owned subsidiary of Woodside and bringing the Driftwood LNG project into Woodside's portfolio (renamed Woodside Louisiana LNG).

Devon Energy Corp. agreed to acquire Eagle Ford operator Validus Energy for $1.8 billion in cash, in a transaction expected to close at the end of Q3 2022 with an effective date of June 1, 2022. The acquisition adds ~42,000 net acres and ~35,000 boe/d of production (projected to average ~40,000 boe/d), deepening Devon's Eagle Ford footprint and driving scale, operational synergies and improved cash returns to shareholders.
