nexfibre (with Virgin Media O2) Acquires Upp to Expand East of England Fibre Footprint

nexfibre, in partnership with Virgin Media O2, has agreed to acquire fibre operator Upp. Virgin Media O2 will initially purchase and integrate Upp before nexfibre acquires Upp's network assets—adding approximately 175,000 premises in the East of England and accelerating regional fibre rollout.

Macquarie Asset Management Acquires 40% Stake in Open Fiber from Enel

Macquarie Asset Management has finalised an agreement to acquire a 40% equity interest in Open Fiber from Enel for €2.12 billion, while CDP Equity will hold the remaining 60% following Enel’s full exit. Open Fiber operates Italy’s largest FTTH network (over 12 million households passed) and the investment will support the company’s continued rollout of ultrafast broadband across Italy; completion was expected in Q4 2021 subject to regulatory approvals.
