Alto Ingredients Acquires Eagle Alcohol Company

Alto Ingredients, Inc. acquired Eagle Alcohol Company LLC, a St. Louis-based distributor of specialty alcohols, in a transaction announced January 2022. The deal (closed Jan. 14, 2022) was funded with cash on hand for a base purchase price of $14.0 million plus an estimated $1.3 million working capital adjustment and includes up to $14.0 million of contingent consideration; Alto said the acquisition is immediately accretive and expected to increase Adjusted EBITDA by $7–9 million annually.

Tilray Brands Acquires Eight Beer and Beverage Brands from Anheuser‑Busch

Tilray Brands, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire eight beer and beverage brands (including associated employees, breweries and brewpubs) from Anheuser‑Busch. The deal covers Shock Top, Breckenridge Brewery, Blue Point, 10 Barrel, Redhook, Widmer Brothers, Square Mile Cider Company and HiBall Energy and is expected to close in 2023, significantly expanding Tilray’s U.S. beverage footprint and production capacity.

Ackley Brands Acquires Mac & Jack's Brewing Company

Family-owned Ackley Brands of Seattle has acquired Mac & Jack's Brewing Company, a 30-year-old craft brewery based in Redmond, Washington. The founders, Mac Rankin and Jack Schropp, will retain leadership/consulting roles and the existing brewery team will remain in place as Ackley integrates the brand into its Pacific Northwest beverage portfolio.

Nestlé USA Acquires Essentia Water from First Bev

Nestlé USA has acquired Essentia Water, the premium alkaline/functional bottled water brand, from private equity firm First Bev. Terms were not disclosed; First Bev praised the brand’s growth under its ownership and founder Ken Uptain for building a strong consumer platform. Nestlé said the deal expands its presence in the premium functional water segment.

Dokkaebier Acquires Federation Brewing

Vintage Wine Estates Acquires Meier's Beverage Group

Vintage Wine Estates, a publicly traded wine company based in Santa Rosa, California, acquired Meier's Wine Cellars, DBA Meier's Beverage Group, a beverage production and contract-bottling facility in Silverton, Ohio. The acquisition (priced at roughly eight times 2021 adjusted EBITDA) adds production capacity — including three bottling lines and a canning line — and strengthens VWE's RTD and Midwest distribution capabilities.
