LBMX Acquires Buying Group Services (BGS)

LBMX Inc., a London, Ontario–based business marketplace platform provider, acquired Buying Group Services (BGS) in an all‑shares transaction effective January 1, 2022. The acquisition adds managed services capabilities to LBMX's existing EDI, PIM and eCommerce offerings, enabling expanded services (including central payments and PIM enrichment) for independent distributors, buying groups and suppliers across end markets such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building materials and food service equipment.

Brookfield Infrastructure and GIC Acquire Genesee & Wyoming Inc.

Affiliates of Brookfield Infrastructure Partners and GIC have completed the acquisition of Genesee & Wyoming Inc. in an approximately $8.4 billion transaction (including debt), taking G&W private at $112 per share. G&W — a Darien, Connecticut‑headquartered owner/operator of short line and regional freight railroads with about 8,000 employees and operations across North America, Europe and Australia — will be integrated into Brookfield's global infrastructure platform.

Scopes Facility Services, a Westbridge Capital–backed facilities services platform based in Alpharetta, Georgia, has acquired Building Maintenance Services Inc. (BMS), a Kennesaw, Georgia–based facilities management company with an additional office in Winter Park, Florida. The deal expands Scopes' technical capabilities and geographic footprint across the Southeast and is supported by Westbridge Capital as the platform owner; the combined organization will leverage over 1,000 self-performing associates and service thousands of sites annually.

Sojitz Acquires Washamerica Inc. (BW Services)

Sojitz Corporation, through its U.S. arm Sojitz Corporation of America, has acquired full ownership of Washamerica Inc. (brand: BW Services), a Texas-based railcar (tank car) repair and qualification services provider. The acquisition expands Sojitz's railcar repair network into the Southern U.S., strengthening its North American MRO and leasing footprint and supporting service offerings for major U.S. oil and chemical customers.

BMS CAT Acquires Legacy Services Corp.

BMS CAT, a division of Blackmon Mooring, has acquired Legacy Services Corp., a Minneapolis-based restoration and environmental cleaning company. The deal expands BMS CAT's commercial and residential restoration and HVAC/cooling-tower cleaning capabilities in the Upper Midwest and is the company's 12th acquisition in the past four years.

Avison Young Acquires BMS Realty Services, LLC

Avison Young has acquired Washington, D.C.-based property manager BMS Realty Services, LLC to bolster its property management capabilities in the D.C. Metro area. The BMS team of 23 joins Avison Young, with founder Larry McCulley becoming Executive Vice President, Real Estate Management Services in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.
