Patten Seed Company (doing business as Super-Sod), a Heartwood Partners–backed platform, completed an add-on acquisition of Frog Pond Turf in Opelika, Alabama in December 2021. The acquisition expands Super-Sod's sod-growing footprint into Alabama (Auburn, Montgomery and Birmingham markets), preserves local management (Brad Baker remains farm manager), and increases supply of Bermudagrass and Zoysiagrass while enabling Super-Sod to introduce products and services such as Soil³ compost and the Lawn Coach subscription in the region.
