Carlyle Acquires LiveU from Francisco Partners

Global investment firm Carlyle has acquired LiveU, the live video streaming and remote production solutions provider, from Francisco Partners. Financial terms were not disclosed; Carlyle said it will use its CETP IV fund to support LiveU's growth, pursuing organic expansion and M&A to broaden its footprint in broadcast, sports and cloud production as 5G and cloud-based media production accelerate.

Francisco Partners and IGP Capital Acquire LiveU

Francisco Partners, with co-investor IGP Capital, has acquired a majority stake in LiveU from its existing shareholders to accelerate the company's global expansion. LiveU, headquartered in Hackensack, New Jersey, provides live IP video devices and cloud services to broadcasters, sports organizations and digital media platforms; previous investors named include Canaan Partners, Viola Ventures, Pitango and Lightspeed.

LiveU Acquires Actus Digital's Business and Technology

LiveU has completed the acquisition of Actus Digital's business and technology; Actus Digital will operate as "Actus Digital, a LiveU Company" and remain an independent sister brand. The deal adds Actus Digital's intelligent monitoring, compliance logging and AI-enhanced content analytics to LiveU's live IP-video contribution and distribution portfolio, enabling an end-to-end offering across broadcast, sports, government and enterprise markets.

Baidu Acquires JOYY's YY Live Business in China

Baidu has acquired JOYY Inc.'s video-based entertainment live streaming business in mainland China (known as YY Live) for approximately US$2.1 billion. As part of the deal, about US$1.6 billion previously deposited in escrow was released to Baidu, which plans to invest those funds in its cloud and AI infrastructure.

NICE Acquires LiveVox

NICE has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire LiveVox, a cloud CCaaS provider, in a cash transaction that pays LiveVox stockholders $3.74 per share. The acquisition brings LiveVox's AI-driven proactive outreach capabilities into NICE's CXone platform to create a unified, interaction-centric conversational AI offering; the deal closed and is expected to be accretive to NICE in 2024.
