Ferraro Foods Acquires Botticelli Food Service; Sells Casa Foods Division Back to Fornino Family

Ferraro Foods has acquired Botticelli Food Service (including the recently acquired Rudy & Son operation), expanding its distribution footprint and adding hundreds of pizzeria and restaurant customers across the Long Island / tri-state pizza market. Concurrently, Ferraro sold its Casa Foods division in Utica, New York back to the legacy Fornino family, transferring the Utica facility and more than 80 employees to local ownership.

Benford Capital Partners Acquires Turri's Italian Foods

Chicago-based private equity firm Benford Capital Partners has acquired Turri's Italian Foods, a Michigan-based maker of IQF (individually quick frozen) pasta and rice. The Turri family will remain in leadership, and Benford plans to invest in production capacity and capabilities while pursuing add-on acquisitions to grow the business.

Richardson International Acquires 8th Avenue Pasta Business (Ronzoni)

Richardson International Limited has completed the acquisition of the pasta business of 8th Avenue Food & Provisions, including a durum mill, three pasta manufacturing facilities (Carrington, ND; New Hope, MN; Winchester, VA) and the Ronzoni brand. The business was sold by Post Holdings/8th Avenue and transfers more than 500 US employees to Richardson, strengthening Richardson's vertically integrated durum-to-pasta supply chain and expanding its retail, private-label, foodservice and ingredient capabilities in North America.

Artisan Chef Manufacturing Company Acquires Buitoni Food Company

Briggs Management Partners served as exclusive financial advisor, led diligence and integration planning, and is acting as interim CFO to support the post-close integration and operational improvements.

US Foods Acquires IWC Food Service

US Foods Holding Corp. has agreed to acquire IWC Food Service (Institutional Wholesale Co., Inc.), a family-owned broadline foodservice distributor based in Cookeville, Tennessee, as a tuck-in to expand US Foods' footprint into central Tennessee. IWC, which generates more than $200 million in annual revenue and serves 2,700+ independent restaurants, will continue operating from its 160,000-square-foot facility and local cash-and-carry store; the deal is expected to close in Q2 2024 pending regulatory approval and terms were not disclosed.

The Chefs' Warehouse Acquires Nicola Imports

The Chefs' Warehouse, a public specialty food distributor, acquired substantially all of the assets of Nicola Imports, a Phoenix-based specialty food importer and distributor. The acquisition expands The Chefs' Warehouse's presence in Arizona and marks its entry into Denver, Colorado, enhancing its specialty product distribution capabilities in those markets.
