Investcorp Acquires Majority Stake in Viz Branz

Investcorp has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority ownership position in Viz Branz Holdings Pte Ltd, a Singapore-headquartered manufacturer and distributor of instant cereal and beverage brands. The transaction was completed in partnership with CR Capital (the private investment arm of China Resources Group) and Fung Strategic Holdings; founder and CEO Mr. Ben Chng will retain a significant ownership stake. Viz Branz operates manufacturing facilities in China and Myanmar, employs approximately 1,300 people and generated about SGD 170 million in sales for the year to 30 June 2020.

Investcorp, in partnership with China Resources and Fung Strategic Holdings, announced an investment in Heritage Foods through its Asia Food Growth Fund I to support Heritage Foods as a buy-and-build platform for condiments and sauces across Asia. Heritage Foods is headquartered in Hong Kong, operates regional offices and manufacturing in Japan, Singapore and Malaysia, employs over 300 people, and owns historic brands such as Hamada Shoyu, Bidor Kwong Heng and Woh Hup Food. The investment is intended to back Heritage Foods’ bolt-on acquisition strategy and international expansion into retail and foodservice channels.

VIG Partners Acquires 85% Stake in Teazen Inc

South Korean buyout firm VIG Partners has agreed to acquire an 85% stake in Teazen Inc, a tea-based health drinks maker best known for its Tae-ri Kim Kombucha. VIG will purchase 70% from IBK-TS Private Equity Fund and 15% from CEO Jong-tae Kim and related parties for about $70 million, with closing expected in May; VIG plans to install professional management and expand Teazen's customer reach.
