Investcorp and China Resources Capital Management (with participation from Fung Strategic Holdings) agreed to acquire a majority ownership position in City Super Group, while existing shareholders including Fenix Group and the Lane Crawford Joyce Group will retain a 35% stake. The deal — subject to PRC merger control approval and expected to close in Q4 2020 — aims to accelerate City Super Group's expansion across Greater China and Asia while keeping the current management team in place.

Heritage Foods is headquartered in Hong Kong, operates regional offices and manufacturing in Japan, Singapore and Malaysia, employs over 300 people, and owns historic brands such as Hamada Shoyu, Bidor Kwong Heng and Woh Hup Food. The investment is intended to back Heritage Foods’ bolt-on acquisition strategy and international expansion into retail and foodservice channels.

Investcorp Acquires Majority Stake in Viz Branz

Investcorp has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority ownership position in Viz Branz Holdings Pte Ltd, a Singapore-headquartered manufacturer and distributor of instant cereal and beverage brands. The transaction was completed in partnership with CR Capital (the private investment arm of China Resources Group) and Fung Strategic Holdings; founder and CEO Mr. Ben Chng will retain a significant ownership stake. Viz Branz operates manufacturing facilities in China and Myanmar, employs approximately 1,300 people and generated about SGD 170 million in sales for the year to 30 June 2020.
