American Industrial Partners Acquires Aluminium Dunkerque Smelter (Loon-Plage, France)

American Industrial Partners (AIP) acquired ownership of the Aluminium Dunkerque smelter in Loon-Plage, France via foreclosure on pledged shares of Liberty France Industries 1 SA. The transaction gives AIP control of three French legal entities that operate the smelter and AIP said it will continue operations with the existing local leadership and provide additional capital to support the business.

Novelis Acquires Aleris Corporation

Novelis Inc. has completed the acquisition of Aleris Corporation, a global supplier of rolled aluminum products, integrating Aleris' 13 production facilities and workforce into Novelis' operations. The deal expands Novelis' product portfolio into aerospace, strengthens its recycling and R&D capabilities, and creates approximately $150 million of synergies while maintaining a pro-forma net debt to adjusted EBITDA within guidance.

The newly independent company — a top-three producer of interior and exterior paints, stains, caulks, adhesives and sealants with more than 6,000 employees and 750 company-owned stores — will operate as a focused platform serving professional and DIY end markets across the U.S. and Canada.

American Industrial Partners (AIP) agreed to acquire a majority interest in the High Pressure Solutions (HPS) segment of Ingersoll Rand, a transaction completed in early 2021. The deal (reported at about $300M) makes HPS a standalone business focused on manufacturing, service, and repair of high-pressure pumps and related consumables for the upstream energy market, with AIP providing operational support to drive product development, supply-chain optimization and growth.
