Groundworks Acquires Baker's Waterproofing

Virginia Beach-based Groundworks, a Cortec Group-backed national foundation services platform, acquired Baker's Waterproofing of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 14, 2021. The add-on expands Groundworks' footprint into Pennsylvania and West Virginia and brings Baker's team of over 85 employees and its residential basement waterproofing, foundation repair and concrete lifting capabilities onto the Groundworks platform.

Batson-Cook Construction Acquires Flournoy Construction Group

The acquired business will continue operating independently in Columbus, Georgia (approximately 45 employees); transaction terms were not disclosed and the new organization began operations on August 4.

MWH Constructors Acquires Methuen Construction Company

Carr's Hill Capital Partners (CHP) has partnered with founders Shaw and Tom Matthews to recapitalize Matthews Brothers Dredging (MBD) and support the company's expansion across U.S. Gulf Coast markets. As part of the transaction, Declan Rushe was named CEO to lead growth of the marine infrastructure and mechanical dredging business, which is based in Pass Christian, Mississippi and provides recurring maintenance and capital dredging services.
