DataCore Software has acquired MayaData, the original developer of OpenEBS and MayaStor, bringing MayaData's San Jose team into DataCore to accelerate development of container-native storage for enterprise Kubernetes deployments. Financial terms were not disclosed; the acquisition expands DataCore's software-defined storage portfolio to include container-attached storage and strengthens its go-to-market and engineering capabilities for cloud-native customers.

Red Hat announced it will acquire StackRox, a Kubernetes-native container security company, to integrate StackRox’s capabilities into Red Hat OpenShift and strengthen container and Kubernetes security across its open hybrid cloud portfolio. The acquisition (expected to close Q1 2021) is intended to expand Red Hat’s security capabilities, shift security left into CI/CD pipelines, and support multiple Kubernetes platforms.

MariaDB Corporation has acquired CubeWerx, a geospatial software specialist, to add cloud-native, scalable geospatial capabilities to its managed cloud service SkySQL. The acquisition will let MariaDB offer OGC standards-based REST APIs and tiered storage for large raster and vector geospatial datasets, expanding its developer-focused cloud database feature set.
