National Fitness Partners (NFP), a portfolio company of Argonne Capital Group, acquired 16 Planet Fitness club locations — 15 in the greater Cleveland and Akron-Canton, Ohio markets and one in central Pennsylvania. The deal was financed with junior capital from funds managed by the Credit Group of Ares Management and expands NFP's footprint to 94 Planet Fitness clubs with development rights across several states.

Planet Fitness Acquires Sunshine Fitness (114 Clubs)

Planet Fitness, Inc. agreed to acquire Sunshine Fitness Growth Holdings, LLC — a Planet Fitness franchisee operating 114 clubs in the Southeast U.S. — in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $800 million, funded in part by a new securitization and available cash. The locations (in AL, FL, GA, NC and SC) were folded into Planet Fitness' company-owned portfolio, and Sunshine co-founder Shane McGuiness joined Planet Fitness to oversee the combined corporate club operations; the deal closed in February 2022.

American Securities Acquires United PF Partners

American Securities, a New York-based private equity firm, has acquired United PF Partners, the largest Planet Fitness franchisee, from Eagle Merchant Partners and JLM Financial Partners. United PF is headquartered in Austin, Texas and operates more than 160 clubs across 14 states serving over 1 million members; terms were not disclosed and the deal closed in late December 2019.

Easy Mile Fitness Acquires 17 Planet Fitness Clubs From Bravo Fit Franchise Group

Easy Mile Fitness, a privately held Planet Fitness franchisee based in Boston, acquired 15 Planet Fitness locations in Oregon and two in Alaska (17 clubs total) from Bravo Fit Franchise Group. The deal expands Easy Mile's footprint in the Pacific Northwest—making it the largest Planet Fitness operator in Oregon—and was financed by Fifth Third Bank with advisors supporting both sides.
