Energywell Acquires Engie Retail's Think Energy Business

Energywell, an energy technology company backed by funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management and Hartree Partners, has signed a purchase and sale agreement to acquire Engie Retail, LLC d/b/a Think Energy. The acquisition (subject to FERC approval) expands Energywell's retail footprint across 13 states and Washington, D.C., and will enable rapid deployment of Energywell's Proton platform across the Think Energy customer base.

Generate Capital Acquires esVolta to Expand Battery Storage and Grid Resilience

Generate Capital has acquired utility-scale battery storage developer esVolta LP, adding a portfolio of more than 900 MWh of operational and contracted projects and a pipeline across multiple U.S. states and Canada. The deal gives Generate entry into the front-of-the-meter battery storage market to expand its grid-connected storage capabilities and accelerate deployment of energy storage projects for utilities and offtakers.

Equinor Acquires East Point Energy

Equinor has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Charlottesville-based battery storage developer East Point Energy LLC, bringing a 4.1 GW pipeline of early- to mid-stage US battery storage projects into Equinor's renewables portfolio. The deal accelerates Equinor's entry into the US power market and expands its capabilities in grid-scale battery storage to support its broader renewable and trading strategy.

SER Capital Partners Acquires HGP's Texas Battery Storage Projects

SER Capital Partners acquired three project companies from Texas-based developer HGP in September 2020 to deploy battery storage projects across Texas. As part of the investment SER entered a strategic equipment arrangement with LG Chem and committed approximately $70 million of equity to support deployment and grid resiliency efforts.

BlackRock Alternatives (Diversified Infrastructure) Acquires Jupiter Power from EnCap and Co-Investors

BlackRock Alternatives, through its Diversified Infrastructure business, has agreed to acquire Jupiter Power LLC from EnCap Energy Transition Fund I and co-investors Yorktown Partners and Mercuria Energy. Jupiter Power is a U.S. operator and developer of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (with a 655 MWh operating fleet, 340 MWh under construction and an ~11,000 MW development pipeline); the deal is expected to close in late 2022.
