KKR and Oak Hill Capital Make New Investments in MetroNet

Funds managed by KKR will join long-time partner Oak Hill Capital and MetroNet management in making new equity investments in MetroNet to accelerate deployment of fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) broadband. The capital will support MetroNet's continued expansion of its 100% fiber optic network into additional U.S. communities and growth of residential and business broadband services.

Oak Hill Capital committed $250 million from its Oak Hill Capital Partners VI fund as the majority investor in newly formed Omni Fiber to accelerate construction of 100% fiber-to-the-premises networks serving small and mid-sized markets in the U.S. Midwest. Omni Fiber, an Ohio-based FTTP internet service provider led by CEO Darrick Zucco, will offer up to 2 Gbps symmetrical service with no data caps and initial projects in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan targeting underserved communities.

Oak Hill Capital Partners with Race Communications to Accelerate California Fiber Expansion

Oak Hill Capital has entered into a definitive agreement to form a partnership with Race Communications, a family-owned fiber-to-the-premises operator, to accelerate expansion of Race’s fiber network across California. The deal (subject to customary regulatory approvals) will support Race’s plans to extend high-speed fiber-to-the-home services to additional unserved and underserved communities while Race’s management team remains in place.

Oak Hill Capital Acquires Controlling Interest in Greenlight Networks

Oak Hill Capital will acquire a controlling interest in Greenlight Networks through its Oak Hill Capital Partners VI fund and plans to invest up to $300 million to accelerate the fiber-to-the-home expansion across New York and beyond. Greenlight currently serves approximately 80,000 homes, employs about 160 people, and the transaction is expected to close pending New York State Public Service Commission approval.

Oak Hill Capital Makes Majority Investment in Lit Communities to Accelerate Fiber Expansion

Oak Hill Capital committed $150 million in primary capital for a majority investment in Lit Communities to fund expansion of Lit's fiber-to-the-home networks in unserved and underserved U.S. communities. Existing shareholders including Stephens Capital Partners, The Pritzker Organization and Lit management remain shareholders; the funding will support construction to reach more than 200,000 locations over the next few years.

Oak Hill Capital Acquires Otelco Inc.

Oak Hill Capital, through an entity formed by the firm, agreed to acquire Otelco Inc. for $11.75 per share (approximately $40.6 million equity purchase price) with an enterprise value of about $105.6 million. The deal, announced July 27, 2020, closed March 31, 2021; Oak Hill intends to accelerate Otelco’s fiber-to-the-premises deployment and combine Otelco with its fiber investments GoNetspeed and Lantek to expand fiber network capabilities and geographic reach.
