Maritime Partners, through its managed funds, acquired a diversified portfolio of over 1,000 marine vessels operating on bareboat charter from J. Russell Flowers, Inc. The deal grows Maritime Partners' fleet to roughly 1,600 vessels (estimated fair market value ~$1.2bn), making it the largest lessor of marine equipment in the United States.

German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has acquired the stake in Indian maritime logistics provider J M Baxi Ports & Logistics from a Bain Capital Private Equity affiliate. The sale, whose financial terms were not disclosed, transfers ownership following Bain's two-year investment that expanded J M Baxi's port capacity and logistics footprint across India. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.

Funds managed by Maritime Partners, LLC (through newly-formed Project Merchant Acquisition LLC) agreed to buy American Tanker Holding Company, Inc. (ATHC), AMSC ASA's Jones Act tanker business, for aggregate gross cash proceeds to AMSC of US$249.3 million (enterprise value reported at US$746.7 million). ATHC owns nine handysize product tankers and one handysize shuttle tanker on long-term bareboat charters to Overseas Shipholding Group and Keystone Shipping; the deal is intended to complement Maritime Partners' existing vessel-lease portfolio and diversify lessee and asset exposure in the protected Jones Act market.
