Hachette Book Group (HBG) has acquired Union Square & Co. (formerly Sterling Publishing) from Barnes & Noble. The deal transfers Union Square's staff, publishing assets, trademarks, and distribution responsibilities to HBG; no purchase price was disclosed.

Skyhorse Publishing Acquires Regnery Publishing from Salem Media Group

Skyhorse Publishing has agreed to acquire Regnery Publishing from Salem Media Group, with the transaction expected to close by year-end. Salem said the sale will place the longtime conservative publisher under Skyhorse’s stewardship, while Skyhorse plans to absorb Regnery’s more than 1,500 titles into its catalogue and operate Regnery as an imprint.

Catapult Book Group Acquires Hawthorne Books & Literary Arts

Catapult Book Group has acquired Portland-based independent press Hawthorne Books & Literary Arts, including its full catalog and trademark. Hawthorne will become the fourth imprint within the Catapult portfolio (alongside Catapult, Counterpoint Press, and Soft Skull Press), with Hawthorne's founder Rhonda Hughes remaining on as Contributing Editor and distribution shifting to Penguin Random House.

Duckworth Books Acquires September Publishing

Text will retain editorial independence under an agreed charter while PRH will handle ANZ sales and support the publisher’s future growth; the sale follows ownership by Michael Heyward and Penny Hueston in partnership with Maureen and Tony Wheeler.

The seller is the Miller family; Hoffmann plans to modernize digital assets, upgrade printing facilities, and integrate the title into its existing media portfolio to preserve local journalism and expand regional printing and digital capabilities.
