Luminar Technologies has acquired its exclusive InGaAs photodetector design partner and specialized fabrication partner, OptoGration Inc., securing chip IP and production capacity to support series production of its Iris lidar sensor. The deal brings OptoGration’s founders into Luminar, secures roughly one million InGaAs chips per year capacity (expandable), and deepens integration with Luminar’s Black Forest Engineering assets to accelerate production and reduce costs.

AI/ML Innovations Inc. Acquires Quantum Sciences Ltd

AI/ML Innovations Inc. entered into a binding share purchase agreement to acquire all issued and outstanding shares of Quantum Sciences Ltd for a purchase price of $690,000 to be paid by the issuance of 10,000,000 common shares. The acquisition (SPA dated December 9, 2024) brings digital health AI/ML and quantum‑inspired capability into AI/ML Innovations' portfolio and remains subject to customary closing conditions and CSE approval.

IonQ Acquires Lightsynq

D-Wave Acquires Quantum Circuits Inc. for $550 Million

D-Wave Quantum Inc. has completed its acquisition of Quantum Circuits Inc. in a deal valued at approximately $550 million (about $300M in stock and $250M in cash). The purchase brings Quantum Circuits' error-corrected dual-rail superconducting gate-model qubit technology and team (including co-founder Dr. Rob Schoelkopf) into D-Wave to accelerate a dual-platform roadmap and advance an initial gate-model system targeted for 2026.

II‑VI Incorporated completed the acquisition of Coherent, Inc., combining II‑VI’s engineered materials and components business with Coherent’s laser and photonics capabilities. Under the merger agreement each Coherent share was converted into $220.00 in cash and 0.91 of a share of II‑VI common stock, creating a combined company with a global workforce of more than 28,000 and expanded scale across materials, networking and lasers.
