BigBear.ai completed a business combination with SPAC GigCapital4 and emerged as a publicly traded company (NYSE: BBAI) on December 8, 2021, in a transaction that values the combined company at approximately $1.378 billion pro forma enterprise value. AE Industrial Partners is a lead private equity partner supporting the transaction; BigBear.ai will use the public listing and capital base to accelerate product development, commercial expansion across government and commercial markets, and potential inorganic growth.

NuWave Solutions Acquires BigBear Inc.

NuWave Solutions has acquired BigBear Inc., a San Diego–based provider of cloud-based big data analytics, AI and geospatial solutions for the U.S. national security community. The acquisition — NuWave's first since being acquired by private equity firm AE Industrial Partners earlier in 2020 — expands NuWave's data analytics, AI and cloud capabilities to better serve federal defense and intelligence customers. Terms were not disclosed.

Saab Acquires BlueBear Systems Group Ltd

Saab has acquired all shares in UK-based BlueBear Systems Group Ltd to strengthen its AI-enabled autonomous swarm and command-and-control capabilities. BlueBear, based outside Bedford, England, employs about 65 staff and had roughly £8 million turnover last year; Saab will integrate the business as a centre for rapid concept development to enhance its offering across key international markets.

BigBear.ai to Acquire Pangiam for Approximately $70M

BigBear.ai has signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire Pangiam (Pangiam Intermediate Holdings, LLC) in an all-stock transaction valued at roughly $70 million, expected to close in Q1 2024. The deal combines Pangiam's facial recognition and biometric capabilities with BigBear.ai's computer vision and AI analytics to create a comprehensive Vision AI portfolio and expand the combined company's customer base into airlines, airports, identity-verification firms and additional U.S. government contracts.

BMC Acquires Model9

BMC Software announced it will acquire Model9, a mainframe cloud data management company, to enhance its BMC AMI portfolio and enable hybrid mainframe-to-cloud data management. The transaction (expected to close in H1 2023) will integrate Model9’s cloud-based backup, data protection and data modernization capabilities into BMC’s offerings; financial terms were not disclosed.
