HNI Corporation has completed its acquisition of Steelcase Inc., creating a combined workplace furnishings enterprise with pro forma annual revenues of $5.8 billion. Steelcase shareholders received a choice of cash and/or HNI stock per share, and the deal is intended to combine complementary portfolios, distribution networks and capabilities to drive operational enhancements and digital transformation.

Kimball International Acquires David Edward

Kimball, a brand unit of Kimball International, signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all assets of David Edward, a Baltimore-based contract furniture designer and manufacturer. The asset purchase includes leasing two production facilities and the approximately 170 employees; Kimball said the acquisition will expand its seating and ancillary furniture capabilities and is expected to be accretive over time.

Herman Miller Acquires Knoll, Creating Market Leader in Modern Design

Herman Miller completed its previously announced acquisition of Knoll, Inc., combining the two companies into a global leader in modern furniture and design. The transaction converted each Knoll share into 0.32 Herman Miller shares plus $11.00 in cash, leaving Herman Miller shareholders with about 78% of the combined company and Knoll shareholders with about 22%.

TranSystems Acquires L.R. Kimball

TranSystems Corp., a national transportation consulting and engineering firm, has acquired L.R. Kimball, a 65-year-old architecture and engineering firm headquartered in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. The approximately 150-person infrastructure team will join TranSystems' national workforce, expanding the firm's engineering and architecture capabilities and strengthening its presence in Pennsylvania.

Acrisure Acquires HNI Risk Services

Caledonia-based insurance distributor Acrisure LLC acquired Milwaukee-area HNI Risk Services, with the deal closing Dec. 31, 2018. Acrisure said HNI will retain local staff, leadership and its brand as part of the firm’s ongoing roll-up strategy to expand its network of partner agencies.

CI Financial Acquires Segall Bryant & Hamill

CI Financial Corp. agreed to acquire Chicago-based Segall Bryant & Hamill, a high-net-worth-focused registered investment advisor and institutional asset manager with roughly US$23 billion in assets and about 122 employees. The acquisition expands CI's U.S. wealth management footprint and enhances its institutional and alternative investment capabilities as part of its cross-border growth strategy.
