Clearwell Group Leads Investment to Combine Alpha EMC and HydroSpec

Clearwell Group, together with Sovereign's Capital and T-Street Capital, has partnered with Alpha EMC and HydroSpec to combine the two erosion-control and stormwater services businesses into the largest full-scope environmental services company in the southeastern United States. Fifth Third Bank provided financing support; the investors say the combination will expand service offerings across the construction lifecycle and accelerate geographic growth.

Clearstead Advisors Acquires Waveland Family Office

Clearstead Advisors, a Cleveland-based RIA backed by Flexpoint Ford, has acquired the assets of Waveland Family Office LLC, a northern Chicago suburban family office with approximately $420 million AUM. The deal closed January 31; Waveland’s six employees will join Clearstead and principals Allen C. Berg and Dennis Zaslavsky will join as equity partners, expanding Clearstead’s Midwest presence and capabilities.

The transactions broaden StableDry's capabilities (chemical grouting, soil stabilization, seawall repair) and extend the platform into central Florida, greater Lexington, KY and Charleston, WV areas.

Clearstead Advisors Acquires Avalon Trust

Clearstead Advisors has acquired Avalon Trust, a Santa Fe-based wealth management and trust firm, expanding Clearstead's presence in the Southwest and bolstering its trust capabilities. Avalon — which manages approximately $2 billion in assets and has 13 employees — will join Clearstead's platform, with Avalon leaders becoming partners and the combined firm overseeing roughly $28 billion in assets under advisement and management.
