JAB's Pet Insurance Business Acquires Crum & Forster Pet and Pethealth from Fairfax

JAB Holding Company’s pet insurance platform (through Independence Pet Group) agreed to acquire Fairfax Financial’s interests in Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group and Pethealth Inc., including their worldwide operations. Fairfax will receive $1.4 billion ( $1.15 billion cash and $250 million in seller notes) and will invest $200 million in JAB’s JCP V fund; the deal was expected to close in H2 2022 and expands JAB’s global pet insurance scale and capabilities.

Pinnacle Pet Group Acquires C&F Pet UK Operations (Pet Protect, VioVet)

Pinnacle Pet Group (PPG), a JAB-controlled pan-European pet insurance and health services platform, has completed the acquisition of the United Kingdom operations of Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group (C&F Pet), including Pet Protect and VioVet. The deal adds ~70,000 Pet Protect customers and VioVet's ecommerce/e-pharmacy capabilities (≈900,000 transactions/year), expanding PPG's UK/European pet insurance footprint and non-insurance pet health services.

Independence Pet Group Acquires Felix Cat Insurance Brand

Independence Pet Group (IPG) has agreed to acquire Felix, a U.S. cat-only pet insurance brand created and operated by The Connected Pet Company. The acquisition expands IPG's portfolio and capabilities to better serve the fast-growing cat pet insurance market and is expected to close in H2 2023 subject to customary approvals.

Amynta Group Acquires Credit Insurance Business of Crum & Forster

The deal expands C&F A&H’s capabilities and presence in the self‑insured/medical stop‑loss market and vertically integrates PMGU’s stop‑loss underwriting expertise into C&F’s Accident & Health portfolio.
