StorageMart has acquired Hanley Storage, a 53,920 rentable-square-foot self-storage facility with 218 units in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The acquisition expands StorageMart's presence in Idaho and will include facility upgrades and enhanced security and amenities under the StorageMart brand.

StorageMart Acquires 15 New York City Self-Storage Facilities from Carlyle Group

StorageMart has acquired a 15-property self-storage portfolio in New York City from the Carlyle Group in a transaction valued at about $1 billion. The portfolio comprises roughly 1.3 million square feet, 25,498 storage units and 121 parking spaces; StorageMart said the deal reinforces its long-term commitment to New York City and expands its local footprint.

Storable Acquires StorageAuctions.com

Storable has acquired StorageAuctions.com, an online marketplace for self-storage unit auctions, integrating its auction services to create an end-to-end delinquency management solution for self-storage operators. The deal, finalized June 4, 2024, will have StorageAuctions.com operate as a division of Storable and is intended to streamline auction workflows and improve unit recovery and re-rental efficiency.

U-Haul Acquires Former Extra Space Storage Facility in Minneapolis

U-Haul acquired the former Extra Space Storage facility at 1717 W. River Road N. in Minneapolis and opened it as U-Haul Moving & Storage at West River Road. The two-story, 975-unit self-storage property became operational under U-Haul management on Nov. 19, and the company plans to hire up to eight team members to staff the location.

Extra Space Storage Acquires Storage Express for $590M

Extra Space Storage (NYSE: EXR) completed the acquisition of multiple entities doing business as Storage Express—adding 107 remote-managed self-storage properties across Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky—for approximately $590.0 million. The deal also included the purchase of the E-Tracker operating software platform and adds 14 future development sites; Storage Express founder Jefferson Shreve was appointed to Extra Space's board following the transaction.

NexPoint Storage Partners Acquires 29 SAFStor Self‑Storage Properties

NexPoint Storage Partners acquired 29 newly developed self-storage properties from SAFStor, bringing its wholly owned portfolio to approximately $1.7 billion in assets and 71 operating properties. As part of the deal Extra Space Storage extended and restructured its preferred equity investment in NexPoint and will manage NexPoint’s entire platform (nearly 90 properties) under the amended arrangement.
