McAfee Acquires NitroSecurity

McAfee, Inc. completed its acquisition of NitroSecurity, a Portsmouth-based provider of security information and event management (SIEM) solutions. The deal brings NitroSecurity's SIEM technology and team into McAfee's Risk and Compliance/business unit to expand McAfee's visibility, analytics and remediation capabilities across endpoint, network and application environments.

A consortium led by private equity firm Symphony Technology Group (STG) completed the acquisition of McAfee's Enterprise business in a transaction announced for $4.0 billion. The divestiture separates McAfee's enterprise security operations — which generated about $1.3 billion in FY2020 revenue and served the vast majority of Fortune 100 customers — allowing McAfee to focus on consumer security while STG invests to grow the standalone enterprise cybersecurity business.

A consortium led by private equity firm Symphony Technology Group (STG) agreed to acquire the FireEye Products business (including the FireEye name) in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.2 billion. After closing, the FireEye Products business was combined with McAfee Enterprise to form a $2 billion cybersecurity product company serving roughly 40,000 customers and about 5,000 employees, while Mandiant (the remaining business) focuses on its intelligence and services platform.
