Aspen Technology, Inc. (AspenTech) has acquired inmation Software GmbH, a Cologne-based leader in industrial real-time information management, to strengthen its industrial data and connectivity capabilities and establish inmation as the cornerstone of its AIoT business unit. The acquisition enhances AspenTech's ability to integrate, manage, and contextualize industrial data across plant-level historians and enterprise systems to support customers' digitalization, sustainability, and profitability goals.

Emerson and AspenTech Combine to Create New AspenTech

Emerson entered into a definitive agreement to contribute its industrial software businesses—OSI Inc. and its Geological Simulation Software business—to AspenTech to form a new, diversified industrial software company (“new AspenTech”). Emerson would receive a 55% stake in new AspenTech, contributing $6.0 billion in cash, while AspenTech shareholders receive cash and shares in the combined company; the transaction was later successfully closed.

Aspen Technology Acquires Mnubo and Sabisu to Expand AI-Driven IoT and Visualization Capabilities

Aspen Technology (AspenTech) acquired Montreal-based Mnubo Inc. — a purpose-built AI and analytics infrastructure provider for IoT — for CAD 102 million to accelerate embedded AI and analytics at enterprise scale. AspenTech also acquired UK-based Sabisu Ltd. (in June 2019) to add enterprise visualization and workflow capabilities, combining these technologies to enhance AspenTech’s asset-optimization and industrial AI offerings.

Emerson Acquires Remaining Shares of AspenTech for $7.2 Billion

Emerson will acquire all remaining outstanding shares of AspenTech that it does not already own via an all-cash tender offer at $265.00 per share, followed by a merger to obtain the rest of the shares. The minority stake being acquired is valued at $7.2 billion and the deal is expected to close in the first half of 2025, subject to customary conditions.

Aspen Technology Acquires Open Grid Systems

The integration is intended to expand AspenTech’s Digital Grid Management suite with model-driven capabilities to help utilities better manage and scale grid model data for transmission and distribution operations and resiliency, subject to regulatory approvals and expected to close before the end of 2024.
