The Murray team of 170 — which generates approximately $31 million in annualized revenues — will remain led by CEO Richard Rankin and join AssuredPartners to strengthen the firm’s Pennsylvania footprint and service capabilities.

AssuredPartners, Inc. has acquired WTPhelan & Co. Insurance Agency, Inc., a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based insurance agency. The WTPhelan team of 58 (reporting $18 million in annualized revenue) will remain under current leadership as part of AssuredPartners’ Northeast expansion and is the firm’s 20th acquisition of 2020.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Acquires AssuredPartners

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (Gallagher) signed a definitive agreement to acquire AssuredPartners, with the transaction expected to close in the first quarter of 2025. The deal value is about $13.45 billion gross (about $12.45 billion net after an estimated $1.0 billion deferred tax asset), and Gallagher expects ~$160 million in synergies and ~$500 million of integration costs. Gallagher subsequently closed the acquisition in August 2025.

The deal adds roughly $420 million in assets under management and expands Wealthspire’s presence in the Midwest by adding a location in the Cleveland metro area.

The Midwest Group Benefits team of 10 — led by Sara Hotvedt — will join AssuredPartners; the agency reports approximately $1.1 million in annualized revenues and the deal expands AssuredPartners' employee benefits presence in Iowa and the Great Plains region.
