After closing, VMware’s common stock ceased trading on the NYSE, and the Broadcom Software Group rebranded and operates as VMware.

VMware also paid an $11.5 billion special cash dividend to its shareholders (Dell received $9.3 billion), and the two companies preserved a commercial agreement to maintain product co-development and sales alignment while allowing VMware to operate as a standalone company.
