Charter Communications to Combine with Cox Communications in $34.5B Deal

Charter Communications and Cox Communications have entered into a definitive agreement to combine their businesses in a transaction valued at about $34.5 billion. Under the deal, Charter will buy Cox’s commercial fiber and managed IT/cloud businesses, while Cox Enterprises will contribute Cox Communications’ residential cable business to Charter Holdings, and the combined company is expected to be named Cox Communications after closing.

Searchlight Capital and BCI to Acquire Consolidated Communications for $3.1 Billion

Affiliates of private equity firm Searchlight Capital Partners and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) will acquire Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc. in an all-cash transaction valuing the company at approximately $3.1 billion including assumed debt. The deal, which was approved by the Vermont Public Utility Commission and previously by Consolidated shareholders, will take the Mattoon, Illinois–based fiber and landline provider private to provide greater flexibility to execute its fiber expansion strategy, subject to remaining federal approvals.

Cox Communications Acquires Remaining Interest in Unite Private Networks

Cox Communications agreed to acquire the remaining ownership stake in Unite Private Networks (UPN) from Ridgemont Equity Partners, completing the deal in July 2023.
