Crown Electrokinetics Acquires Amerigen 7 (renamed Crown Fiber Optics)

Crown Electrokinetics Corp. acquired substantially all assets of Amerigen 7 in an asset purchase agreement and will rename the business Crown Fiber Optics. The acquisition adds distributed antenna systems (DAS) and fiber optic construction capabilities to Crown's smart-glass business and includes a $67 million purchase order with Charter Communications for fiber buildout in Ohio; Crown paid $645,000 in cash and assumed certain liabilities.

Crown Castle has entered into definitive agreements to sell its Small Cells Solutions business to an EQT Active Core Infrastructure fund for about $4.25 billion. In a separate but concurrent deal, Zayo (backed by DigitalBridge and EQT) will acquire Crown Castle’s Fiber Solutions business for about $4.25 billion, with the combined fiber + small cells transaction valued at approximately $8.5 billion.

The deals add new product lines (dust control, freeze conditioning, water treatment chemicals and fuel catalysts), nine manufacturing locations (bringing Kodiak to nine production sites) and additional employees to accelerate cross-selling and service capabilities.
