WNET Acquires WPPB-FM

WNET, the parent of New York PBS stations THIRTEEN and WLIW21, acquired WPPB-FM, the NPR radio station serving the East End of Long Island. The FCC and New York State Attorney General approved the purchase, which will make WLIW a dual PBS/NPR licensee and transition long-serving WPPB GM Dr. Wally Smith to General Manager Emeritus.
