Superior Plus Acquires Hopkins Propane and Mountain Energy Gas

Superior Plus Corp. (TSX:SPB) has closed the acquisition of the assets of Hopkins Propane and separately acquired the assets of Mountain Energy Gas in Waynesville, North Carolina. The transactions expand Superior's retail propane footprint in Michigan and North Carolina as part of its ongoing distribution growth strategy.

The tuck-in acquisition — Superior's second in 2020 — is expected to close in Q3 2020, will modestly increase U.S. propane distribution segment EBITDA, and follows a preferred share investment from Brookfield Asset Management that strengthened Superior's balance sheet.

Superior Plus Acquires Williams Energy Group

Williams Energy, founded in 1998, supplies ~7 million gallons of propane annually to about 12,000 retail and commercial customers; the deal creates operational synergies with Superior’s recent Freeman Gas acquisition.

Superior Plus Acquires Freeman Gas & Electric Co., Inc.

Superior Plus Corp., through a wholly‑owned subsidiary, agreed to acquire the assets of Freeman Gas & Electric Co., Inc. for approximately US$170 million to expand its U.S. propane distribution footprint in the Southeast. Freeman is a family‑owned retail propane distributor with ~23 branches, ~38 bulk plants and about 275 employees servicing residential and commercial customers across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Superior Plus Subsidiary Acquires Central Coast Propane

Superior Plus Corp., through a wholly-owned subsidiary, acquired all equity interests of Central Coast Propane, a Paso Robles, California-based retail propane distributor serving approximately 2,800 residential and commercial customers. The acquisition is Superior's fourth in 2020 (and third retail propane deal in California) and is expected to provide synergies with its existing retail and wholesale propane operations in the state.

Superior Plus Completes Acquisition of Kamps Propane and Kiva Energy

Superior Plus Corp. completed the acquisition of Kamps Propane (and related entities) and Kiva Energy for approximately US$240 million, funded from its existing credit facility. The deal adds a substantial retail propane distribution platform and wholesale capabilities across the U.S. West, and is expected to deliver approximately US$7 million of annual run-rate synergies within 24 months.
