Foodtastic Acquires Pita Pit Canada and Pita Pit International

Foodtastic Inc. has acquired Pita Pit Canada and Pita Pit International, bringing the Pita Pit quick-service restaurant brand into Foodtastic's portfolio. Pita Pit operates approximately 225 restaurants in Canada and 135 internationally; Foodtastic said it plans aggressive growth for the brand with more than 50 new locations expected over the next 36 months.

Foodtastic Acquires Central Social Hall

The acquisition expands Foodtastic’s portfolio of Canadian restaurant banners and positions Central Social Hall for a staged roll-out across Alberta and other Canadian provinces.

Utz Brands Acquires Truco Enterprises (ON THE BORDER) for $480M

Utz Brands (NYSE: UTZ) agreed to acquire Truco Enterprises, the maker of On The Border tortilla chips, salsa and queso, from Insignia Capital Group for approximately $480 million in cash. The transaction closed in December 2020; Utz expects to leverage its direct-store-delivery network and broader capabilities to expand the On The Border brand into new markets.

BBQ Holdings Acquires Barrio Queen

BBQ Holdings, Inc. (soon to be Famous Hospitality, Inc.) acquired Barrio Queen, a Phoenix/Scottsdale-based Mexican fine-dining restaurant chain, for $28 million on April 11, 2022. The acquisition expands BBQ Holdings' multi-brand restaurant portfolio and adds a fast-growing Mexican dining and tequila concept with seven locations and an eighth leased.

Dine Brands Acquires Fuzzy's Taco Shop

Dine Brands Global, Inc. agreed to acquire Fuzzy's Taco Shop from Experiential Brands LLC (a subsidiary of NRD Holding Company) for $80 million in cash. The purchase adds a fast-casual, largely franchised Mexican concept with 138 restaurants to Dine Brands' portfolio and is expected to be accretive to earnings while supporting Fuzzy's growth plans.

MTY Food Group Acquires South Street Burger

MTY Food Group Inc. announced that a wholly-owned subsidiary acquired substantially all of the assets of South Street Burger for approximately $5.1 million. The acquisition (24 franchised and 13 corporate restaurants, including one in Dubai) strengthens MTY's position in the fast-casual/gourmet burger segment and will move South Street Burger operations into MTY's Ontario offices.
