CD&R Acquires Multi-Color Corporation and Fort Dearborn to Create Global Label Solutions Leader

Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) agreed to acquire Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) from Platinum Equity and Fort Dearborn Company from Advent International and combine the two businesses into a single global label solutions platform. The combined company will serve consumer packaged goods customers across Food & Beverage, Home & Personal Care, Wine & Spirits and other specialty end markets, creating roughly $3 billion in annual revenue and expanded global scale.

Multi-Color Corporation Acquires LUX Global Label

Multi-Color Corporation (MCC) acquired LUX Global Label, a manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves and security labels headquartered in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. The acquisition, which closed December 9, 2022, adds LUX’s ~200 employees and production sites in Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico to MCC’s Home and Personal Care business to deepen capabilities in personal care and pharmaceutical end-markets.

Chroma Color Corporation Acquires Plastics Color Corporation

Chroma Color Corporation has acquired Plastics Color Corporation, including its two manufacturing facilities in Asheboro, North Carolina and Calumet City, Illinois. The acquisition expands Chroma's manufacturing footprint and adds Plastics Color's color concentrates, functional additives and FDA-relevant capabilities (including DMFs) to Chroma's portfolio; terms were not disclosed.

Sonoco Acquires Ball Metalpack from Platinum Equity and Ball Corporation for $1.35 Billion

Sonoco has completed the acquisition of Ball Metalpack, a Broomfield, Colorado-based manufacturer of sustainable steel containers, in a transaction valued at approximately $1.35 billion. The seller parties were Platinum Equity (51% owner) and Ball Corporation (49% owner); the deal follows a three-year transformation and expansion program at Ball Metalpack under the joint-venture ownership.

Techmer PM Acquires Colors for Plastics

The acquisition expands Techmer PM's product offerings and color technology capabilities, and brings Colors for Plastics' Elk Grove Village, Illinois and Spartanburg, South Carolina sites and employees into Techmer's organization.

The Kennedy Group Acquires Color Label, Inc.

The Kennedy Group (Willoughby, Ohio) has acquired Color Label, Inc., a St. Louis-based supplier of pressure-sensitive labels serving agricultural and consumer product industries. The deal expands The Kennedy Group’s national footprint into the St. Louis market, shifts production to its Cleveland-area facility while retaining key St. Louis personnel to ensure continuity, and was advised by Graphic Arts Advisors (GAA).
