KKR Invests A$500 Million in CleanPeak Energy to Expand Australia Distributed Energy Platform

KKR has partnered with CleanPeak Energy, investing A$500 million to expand CleanPeak’s distributed energy platform in Australia. The funding will support growth of solar, battery storage, and micro-grid solutions for commercial and industrial customers, with the deal expected to close in the second half of 2025 pending regulatory approvals.

Hero Future Energies, an independent power producer with ~1.6 GW of operating solar and wind projects, will use the capital to scale projects, expand into new technologies and enter new markets; IFC remains an existing investor.

A consortium of KKR, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board and PSP Investments completed an all-cash acquisition of Spark Infrastructure for approximately A$5.2 billion. The deal, which received all regulatory approvals, gives the investors ownership of Spark's stakes in SA Power Networks, Victoria Power Networks (Citipower and Powercor), a stake in TransGrid and the Bomen Solar Farm as they seek to support Australia’s transition to low-carbon electricity infrastructure.
