Nippon Express Holdings, Inc. (NX Group) — via its NX Global Innovation Fund — acquired a minority stake in Spiral Inc., a Tokyo-based developer of indoor autonomous drone flight control systems, on August 23, 2024. The investment is intended to support Spiral’s expansion into Europe (including a planned Vienna subsidiary) and to allow NX Group to integrate Spiral’s technology into its logistics services via its cargo‑partner subsidiary.

Nippon Express Holdings, Inc. (NXHD) agreed to acquire all shares of SH HoldCo GmbH (Simon Hegele), a Germany-based contract logistics group focused on the healthcare sector, entering a sale and purchase agreement on September 30, 2024. Simon Hegele will become a fully owned subsidiary of NXHD to combine NX's global network with Simon Hegele's specialized healthcare logistics capabilities.

UJET Acquires Spiral

The deal integrates Spiral's conversation- and feedback-analysis capabilities into UJET's AI-first contact center offering while allowing Spiral to continue operating as a standalone product under the name Spiral by UJET.

Sagewind Capital Invests in Sigma Defense Systems

Nippon Express Acquires MD Logistics and MD Express (U.S.)

Nippon Express Co., Ltd., via its U.S. subsidiary Nippon Express USA, Inc., completed the acquisition of all equity interests in MD Logistics, LLC and MD Express, LLC, making the businesses subsidiaries. MD Logistics is a U.S.-based third-party logistics provider (founded 1996) specializing in pharmaceutical cold-chain warehousing and distribution, with multiple facilities in Indiana and a site in Reno, Nevada and reported roughly $51M revenue for 2019.
