Macquarie Infrastructure Partners V (MIP), via Macquarie Asset Management, completed an all-cash acquisition of Cincinnati Bell Inc. for approximately $2.9 billion including debt. The deal (at $15.50 per share) takes Cincinnati Bell private and is intended to accelerate the company’s fiber build and support strategic investments in its CBTS IT services business.

CBRE IM said the acquisition will expand its private infrastructure portfolio and enable integration with its middle-mile portfolio company WANRack to accelerate broadband deployment in underserved communities; the deal is expected to close in February 2023 pending regulatory approvals.
