MasTec Acquires The Superior Group (Electrical Specialists, Inc.)

MasTec entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Electrical Specialists, Inc., doing business as The Superior Group, in a transaction valued at approximately $1.65 billion (about $475 million in MasTec stock and $1.175 billion in cash), subject to customary adjustments and a potential earnout. MasTec completed the acquisition later in July 2026, and Superior will operate as a new operating group with results reflected in MasTec’s Power Delivery segment.

SpartanNash Acquires Metcalfe's Market

SpartanNash has acquired Metcalfe's Market, a three-store Wisconsin grocery chain, expanding SpartanNash's Wisconsin footprint to seven stores. SpartanNash will retain Metcalfe's storefront, branding and employees, and bring its private-label offerings and loyalty program to the acquired stores; terms were not disclosed.

Viru Group Acquires Superior Foods International

Peru-based agro-industrial leader Viru Group has acquired Superior Foods International (SFI), a Watsonville, California-based supplier and manufacturer of frozen fruits, vegetables and value-added frozen products. The deal is intended to expand Viru's capabilities and product offerings in the U.S. market while SFI will continue operating with its current management team.

SpartanNash Acquires Great Lakes Foods

Highview Capital Acquires Gold Star Foods and Merges It with Good Source Solutions to Form GS Foods Group

Highview Capital acquired Gold Star Foods from Castle Harlan and will merge it with Highview portfolio company Good Source Solutions to form a new holding company, GS Foods Group. Alvarez & Marsal Capital Partners participated as a direct investor in the combined business; the combined company will create a national specialized foodservice distribution platform focused on K-12, corrections and other non-commercial segments.
