Franklin BSP BDCs Acquire Encina Equipment Finance

Franklin BSP Lending Corporation and Franklin BSP Capital Corporation, BDCs advised by Benefit Street Partners, acquired substantially all equity interests of Encina Equipment Finance, LLC. Encina will remain headquartered in Westport, Connecticut with management, including CEO Rick Matte, continuing to lead the business and retaining a minority stake; the acquisition provides a permanent capital base to support growth of Encina's equipment finance platform across the U.S. and Canada.

American Outdoor Brands Acquires Bubba Blade Assets from Fish Tales

American Outdoor Brands Corporation (through its accessories business, Battenfeld Technologies, Inc.) agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of Fish Tales, LLC, including the Bubba Blade premium knife brand. The deal will be funded with cash on hand, is expected to close in summer 2017, and AOBC will transition the Bubba Blade business to its Columbia, Missouri facility to integrate into its accessories segment.

ElmTree — a St. Louis–based specialist in commercial net-lease and build-to-suit industrial properties — will continue to be led by James Koman and is expected to expand PFS's capabilities to offer long-dated contractual income solutions to investors.

Big Rock Brands Acquires Fish Consulting

Big Rock Brands, a private-equity owned holding company, has acquired Fish Consulting, a Fort Lauderdale-based public relations and communications firm that specializes in franchise and multi-location marketing. Fish will continue to operate as an independent brand and join the 919 Marketing platform within Big Rock Brands, expanding the platform's PR and data-driven marketing capabilities. Founder Lorne Fisher will remain as Fish's leader and join Big Rock Brands' board of directors.
