MRE Partners, supported by investors including Stonehenge Partners, Blue Marlin Partners, Cohesive Capital and UMB Financial, has completed an investment to acquire Curated Events, a leading special-event rental and services provider based in the Raleigh area. The transaction (terms undisclosed) transfers Curated Events from seller Dubin Clark and positions MRE to pursue organic growth and follow-on acquisitions to build a market-leading platform across the Mid‑Atlantic and Southeast.

Seated Acquires VenueBook and Raises $30M to Expand into Events

Seated, a restaurant rewards and booking platform, acquired digital event-booking platform VenueBook and raised $30 million led by Insight Partners with participation from Craft Ventures, Greycroft, and Rho Capital Partners. The acquisition adds VenueBook’s event-booking capabilities (and its network of ~120,000 professional event planners) to Seated’s product suite, enabling restaurants to drive revenue from dine-in, pickup/delivery and private events.

Curated Events, a portfolio company of private equity firm Dubin Clark, has acquired Sugarplum Tent Co., a Boyds, Maryland-based provider of tent and event rental services. The add-on deal — terms not disclosed — brings Sugarplum’s high-end tenting and under-tent offerings into the Curated Events platform; founder Barbi Richardson sold the business and was represented by Fred Hageman of Rental Business Advisors.
