Planet Fitness Acquires Sunshine Fitness (114 Clubs)

Planet Fitness, Inc. agreed to acquire Sunshine Fitness Growth Holdings, LLC — a Planet Fitness franchisee operating 114 clubs in the Southeast U.S. — in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $800 million, funded in part by a new securitization and available cash. The locations (in AL, FL, GA, NC and SC) were folded into Planet Fitness' company-owned portfolio, and Sunshine co-founder Shane McGuiness joined Planet Fitness to oversee the combined corporate club operations; the deal closed in February 2022.

Flourish Research Acquires Suncoast Research Group

Flourish Research, an NMS Capital portfolio company, has acquired Suncoast Research Group, a multi-therapeutic clinical research site based in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami, Florida. The founders and current management will remain in place; terms were not disclosed. The deal expands Flourish's integrated clinical site network and increases access to diverse patient populations in the Florida market.

Sage Dental Acquires Children's Dentistry (New Tampa)

Sage Dental, a Boca Raton–based dental service organization, acquired Children's Dentistry in the New Tampa area from Dr. Gregory Stepanski. The location will become Sage Dental Kids of New Tampa — the DSO's first dedicated pediatric/orthodontic practice — and is expected to officially launch on April 29, 2024 to expand Sage's pediatric service offerings in the region.

Busy Bees North America Acquires 13 Early Learning Schools from Kids N Us and Birch Tree Academy

Busy Bees North America (BBNA) acquired thirteen early learning centers in the greater Seattle area — seven Kids N Us locations and six Birch Tree Academy locations — expanding BBNA’s U.S. footprint into Washington State. The deal adds roughly 380 educators and staff and more than 1,575 children and families to Busy Bees’ network, growing BBNA to about 270 centers across the United States and Canada.

Russel Metals Acquires Tampa Bay Steel
