Investcorp Acquires IDFC Alternatives' PE and Real Estate Businesses

Bahrain-based alternative investment manager Investcorp has acquired the private equity and real estate investment management businesses of IDFC Alternatives Limited, a subsidiary of IDFC Limited, marking Investcorp's entry into India. The deal transfers an existing team of around 20 people and roughly $430 million of combined AUM to Investcorp and is intended to expand the firm’s investment footprint and client franchise in India.

Simultaneously, Investcorp BDC Holdings Limited entered a stock purchase agreement to acquire up to 10% of CM Finance Inc. over a two‑year period; the transaction was expected to close in Q3 2019 subject to customary regulatory approvals.

IDFC FIRST Bank approved a preferential issue of convertible preference shares totaling approximately Rs. 7,500 crore: ~Rs. 4,876 crore to Currant Sea Investments B.V. (an affiliate of Warburg Pincus) and ~Rs. 2,624 crore to Platinum Invictus B 2025 RSC Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of ADIA). The capital raise, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, will strengthen the bank’s capital adequacy (CET-1 and overall ratios) and support its next phase of growth.
