Apax Partners and Fremman Capital acquire co-controlling stakes in Palex Medical

Funds advised by Apax Partners LLP and funds advised by Fremman Capital agreed to acquire co-controlling stakes in Palex Medical, with Fremman remaining an investor while some of its funds and other minority shareholders sell. Palex, a Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona)-headquartered MedTech distributor with ~928 employees, will partner with Apax and Fremman to accelerate pan-European growth and international expansion; the deal is expected to close in Q4 2023 and financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal expands Arterex’s global multi-capability platform — nearly doubling the group’s scale and adding complementary design, engineering and complex electromechanical and implantable device manufacturing capabilities across North America and internationally.

EQT Private Equity (EQT IX) and Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Private Equity business have agreed to acquire Parexel from Pamplona Capital Management for an enterprise value of USD 8.5 billion. Parexel, a global clinical research organization co-headquartered in Durham, North Carolina and Newton, Massachusetts, employs more than 17,000 people and provides outsourced clinical development, regulatory, market access and consulting services to the pharma and biotech industry.

Pharmacosmos A/S Acquires AbFero Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Pharmacosmos A/S (Pharmacosmos Group) has agreed to acquire all assets of Boston-based clinical-stage AbFero Pharmaceuticals, Inc. under a share purchase agreement for up to $225 million including upfront, milestone, and royalty components. The acquisition adds AbFero’s SP-420 iron chelation program to Pharmacosmos’ iron-metabolism-focused R&D and commercial capabilities to accelerate development and commercialization for transfusional iron overload and related indications.
